The Holocaust – a British Perspective: Confronting Evil, Assuming Responsibility
The UK’s Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre will stand in clear view of Parliament and deliver on the Government’s promise for a world-leading educational initiative. It will provide an honest reflection of Britain’s role surrounding the Holocaust as well as reflecting on subsequent genocides. The Memorial will honour the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered in the Holocaust, as well as all other victims of Nazi persecution, including Roma, gay and disabled people.

There can be no more powerful symbol of our commitment to remembering the Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators than placing the memorial in Victoria Tower Gardens.
The Memorial will stand as a reminder of the horrors of the past and will encourage reflection on their implications for British government and society, both at the time and subsequently. The view of Parliament from the Memorial will serve as a permanent reminder that political decisions have far-reaching consequences.
